MEET A WIDOW
Meet some of the widows whose lives have been forever changed by Project Purple! Our mission is to continue restoring the dignity and financial independence of impoverished widows across the globe.
Meet Priobala, one of the widows who was blessed by the pig farm we started in 2022. Priobala is 70 years old and was widowed in 1980 when her husband, a coal mine laborer, died in an accident while returning from work. Priobala has 7 children, and all of them are married, so she has no one to look after her. She works as a housekeeper and struggles to make ends meet at the age of 70. Thanks to Project Purple, Priobala received a piglet, which has brought her much joy and represents hope and God’s provision in this stage of her life. She is surrounded by other widows who are also raising piglets, and they are happy and grateful for the opportunity to become financially independent through Project Purple Meghalaya!
Meet two of our Project Purple widows, Annarkali (left) & Navraji (right). Navraji’s husband died a long time ago due to sickness. Five months ago, her only son also died due to sickness, leaving her daughter-in-law (Annarkali) a widow, as well. The women have no support from any other family or the community and struggle to provide for themselves as daily wage workers. Thanks to Project Purple, these beautiful women have been provided a goat, who is now pregnant and will soon give birth to her kids. They are happily caring for their goat which has given them purpose, helps to pass the time, and provides hope for a better future.
Meet Chandrakala (left) and Kamla (right). Kamla tragically lost her husband to leprosy, as well as her daughter. She lives alone at home and is also suffering from leprosy, as you can clearly see on her hand and wrist. Our local pastor helps to provide her clothes, food, and other living necessities. Chandralaka‘s husband died from kidney failure, and she has two children. Both of these precious widows were ecstatic to receive this goat through Project Purple! Their goat is currently pregnant – please pray that it will provide them some healthy kids.
Meet Guddi and Seema. Guddi lost her husband to a heart attack when she was just 35, and she is a daily wage worker who cares for her 3 sons and daughter. Seema also lost her husband at the age of 40 to tuberculosis and has 2 sons and 2 daughters. These precious widows are so grateful to have a Project Purple goat in their lives. Their goat is about 3 months pregnant!
Meet Sunila (right) and Amwarati (left). Sunila’s husband was murdered, and they didn’t have any children prior to his death. Sunila is still very young and is trying to find someone else to settle down with again, but it is very hard in this village to get remarried. Amwarati lost her husband to tuberculosis 7 years ago, and she has two grown boys.
Both widows were thrilled to received this goat (pregnant in this picture). God willing, their goat will continue to breed and have kids, providing them an ongoing source of income.
Thank you again to all of our generous sponsors, donors, and prayer partners for supporting our mission to change the lives of widows across the globe. Project Purple continues to give hope to widows like Sunila and Amwarati!
